چکیده

The Grid-Enabled Computational Electromagnetics (GECEM) portal is a problem-solving environment that uses grid technologies to support scientists in accessing distributed resources for the solution of computational electromagnetics (CEM) problems. These resources include input files specifying the system geometry, and proprietary software and hardware for mesh generation and CEM simulation. Through interacting with a web-based grid portal, a user can access these resources, submit jobs, monitor and execute distributed grid applications, and collaboratively visualize the results of the CEM simulation. Thus, the portal allows users to use Grid infrastructure to share resources among geographically distributed partners in order to execute large-scale computational electromagnetics simulations, and to collaboratively analyze and visualize the results. This paper describes a secure, web-based portal, built on the GridSphere framework, composed of a number of JSR-168 compliant portlets that deploy services at the back end for discovery and management of distributed resources, and for invoking services for mesh generation and CEM simulation. The paper also describes how security is achieved through the Grid Security Infrastructure and single sign-on.

Lessons Learned from the GECEM Project

The Grid-Enabled Computational Electromagnetics project (GECEM) has developed a portal for performing electromagnetics simulations. The portal is based on the GridSphere portal framework and uses JSR168compliant portlets to access remote web services. The GECEM portal supports an execution pipeline that starts with an input geometry which is processed to generate surface and volume computationa...

A Web Service Architecture for GECEM

The GECEM project is developing Grid technologies to enable large-scale and distributed engineering research in computational electromagnetics (CEM). We present a Web service portal architecture for supporting collaboration among distributed partners using the Grid. The GECEM grid takes a model geometry generated at one location, and transfers it to a second location to be meshed. The computati...

A Portlet Service Model for GECEM

Grid-enabled portals are popular as a means to create web-accessible problem-solving environments (PSEs) that allow scientists to access distributed resources, and to monitor and execute distributed Grid applications from a Web browser. In this paper, we describe a web-based portal, based on GridSphere portlets, that deploys services for discovery and management of distributed resources, and fo...

A Portlet Interface for Computational Electromagnetics on the Grid

Grid-enabled portals are becoming increasingly popular for scientific collaboration. Specifically, a portal can be viewed as a Grid-based problem-solving environment (PSE) that allows scientists to access distributed resources, and to monitor and execute distributed Grid applications from a Web browser. This paper describes the Grid-enabled GECEM portal, which serves as a web gateway to computa...

HPC Portal: a Repository of Portal Resources

As computational science is developing, multiple Grid resources are being used widely by scientists and engineers in their work. A Grid portal is an environment and a Web-based application which should be familiar to anyone who has used a Web browser. The growth of Grid applications brings a challenge of how to develop a successful Grid portal. HPC Portal is a generic Grid portal development pr...
